I’d like to share a short story with you.

This morning my wife was grocery shopping at
Wegmans – our local supermarket.

A strange man approached her and asked if she
would take a survey. They wanted to get her
opinion on the store prices.

She agreed.

The man then yelled: “Ok Fellas! She’ll take the
survey – come on out!”

Three more people jumped out from the next aisle!

One guy carried a television camera. Another guy had a
microphone. The third person was lugging a lighting
apparatus.

These guys were shooting a television
commercial for Wegmans. They wanted
testimonials from real customers.

Wegmans is a fantastic grocery store. In fact, it
is more of an “experience” than a grocery store.

So my wife had no trouble giving Wegmans a glowing
review on camera.

The TV men were really happy that she talked
so enthusiastically about the store.

They even invited her back for some future
commercial work!

Of course, she will ask to be paid next time!

Getting on TV is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Some people work their entire lives for just one
chance to get on TV.

The reason my wife got on TV with almost no effort
is simple: She was in the right place at the right time.

How can you apply this to your life?

It’s true that you can’t predict where the next big
opportunity will show up.

I don’t suggest you spend all day at the grocery
store

Finding opportunities like this one is *mostly*
beyond your control.

However, you CAN control the odds of getting
your big break.

For example, you can control the people you associate with.
Do you hang out with lazy people who criticize your
hard work?

Or, do you seek out successful people who encourage
and compliment you?

You can do lots of small things to control and attract
opportunity. For example, you can seek out a successful
local business owner and ask he or she to have lunch with
you.

You can join a local business mastermind
chapter.

You can choose to associate yourself with people
who encourage you and push you towards your goals
(like Dave and I do).

You can also PREPARE yourself for opportunity.

My wife did not leave the house today expecting to
get on TV. However, she was prepared for just such
an opportunity.

For example, she was dressed nicely. She wore
dress jeans and a business-casual type shirt. She
looked the part of an ideal Wegmans shopper.

In short, she was prepared for opportunity that might happen.

A lot of people went to Wegmans today dressed in dirty
sweat pants and sweat stained t-shirts.

Nobody asked them to be in the commercial.

There are lots of things you can do to prepare
for opportunity. Here are just a few:

1. Dress the part.

2. Keep an open mind.

3. Strike up conversations with people in line at
Starbucks.

You just never know where your next big
break will come from. Why not prepare yourself
to grab it when it shows up?

These opportunities may show up at random, unexpectedly.

You can also be more aggressive about this and create your own opportunities.

I’d like to share an inspiring story with you about one of our students.

(We’ll call this student ‘Sydney’ to protect her
privacy.)

Briefly, Sydney turned a debilitating medical
problem into a full-time website income.

How did she do this?

Sydney was diagnosed with a condition called
Hypothyroidism, which can be a debilitating
medical problem if not treated. In fact,
Wikipedia lists 43 possible symptoms of this
condition – some quite serious.

Every doctor who treated Sydney wanted to
treat her with prescription medicines.
These medicines came with their own long
list of side effects.

Sydney didn’t want to replace her existing symptoms
with other symptoms from these medications.

Sydney knew there had to be another solution…and
there was…

She did hours of research and dozens of “experiments.”

Sydney changed her diet and took some natural
supplements. By doing this Sydney eliminated 99%
of her symptoms. She felt incredibly healthy for
the first time in years. She also felt a great

A few months back the Capital One Credit Card
Company rejected me from its affiliate program.
I applied 3-4 times with different websites. They
rejected me every time.

I knew that I could make an additional $8,000 -
$12,000 per month with Capital One….but they
refused to let me into their Affiliate Program!

Did you know that you can obtain incredible wealth just by being an expert at something?

Cesar is self-taught. Nobody considers him an expert because he has a plaque on the wall declaring him an expert. Rather, Cesar is an expert because he has more experience and knowledge about dog training than 99% of other
people.

I guarantee that you are an expert of at least one thing you can use to make money.

Don’t believe me? Think about this story:

A few months ago computer hackers attacked Dave’s home office computer system. They put viruses on his computer. Since Dave does all his work from this computer, he needed to find a solution – and find it quick.

He tried a bunch of things to fix the virus. He bought a half-dozen anti-virus products. None of them worked. He finally found a product that worked – it removed the virus!

Dave is now at expert at how to fix a computer virus. He used his expert status to make money. He set up a simple affiliate website where he talks about his experience and what he did to fix the problem.

Simple websites like these work. In fact, in our best month we made just shy of $12,000 from a simple anti-virus affiliate website. (www.pcdefense.org)

I encourage you to take a mental inventory of all the ways that you are an expert.

- Perhaps you’re hobby is photography and you are an
expert at how to take low level photographs

- Imagine what you could do with the World’s best
recipe for chocolate chip cookies

- Maybe you are an expert at using Microsoft Excel

- You could be an expert simply because you have used a popular product – like P90X or the new Apple iPad.

Remember, simple ordinary things can make you tremendous sums of cash.

In fact, I’ve made $2.2 Million dollars just from being an “expert” about credit cards and personal finance. I became an expert because I had bad credit in college.

Those links generated $2.2 Million so far in income.

Coaching Day: Rochester, New York Offices

We met with four ambitious students last week in our Rochester, New York offices.

Our Goal: Simple – to give our students “walk-away” affiliate campaigns. We spent the day setting up LIVE landing pages, Microsoft Adcenter Campaigns with existing affiliate offers that are working for us right NOW.

In fact, these two guys are now operating the same offer that is generating Dave and I between $50,000 – $60,000 in gross revenue per month. I can’t tell you what the campaign is, but it’s in the personal finance category and is BOOMING right now as a result of the faltering real estate and economic market.

That’s the great thing about Affiliate Marketing: You can be in ANY market literally overnight. We sent these two guys home with successful Affiliate campaigns and will be cutting them checks each month.

We limit our coaching days to just 3-4 separate events per year. In fact, we had to turn away three interested students last week because we were already booked.

WARNING: This post contains some rough language.
If you are easily offended, DO NOT READ any further!

I want to share a story about how I nearly got
into a fist fight at a meeting.

To give you some background, I belong to a group
of local Internet marketers. These guys all have
full-time Internet businesses. They make anywhere
between $5,000 per month to $60,000 per month.

(Before I joined this Club I had no idea that
there were this many local people making a six
figure income from the Internet).

In any event, this Club meets every two weeks. We
meet in a separate building nestled in the woods
of a Rochester suburb. We discuss business ideas,
hot new offers, our websites, new techniques, etc.
We also talk about our goals.

At our last meeting I talked about getting 100
sales per day from a credit card affiliate program
called “Green Dot.” Tom, one of the members,
was rude. He said this to me:

“Ben, for months now you’ve been talking about
getting 100 sales per day on that offer, but you
have yet to do it. You are just all talk and no
walk. Either do it, or stop talking about it.”

I was shocked. I got really mad. My face turned
red and my palms started to sweat. I wanted to
fight this guy right then and there.

I also wanted to bring up all the reasons I
haven’t achieved my goal – like I’ve been
busy with other projects, I’ve been traveling,
etc. However, I knew he was right. I knew those
are just excuses. Inside I had to admit that I’ve
been talking about that goal for a while.

Instead of getting into a fist fight with Tom I
made him a wager. I bet him $1,000 that I could
generate 100 sales in a single day before the next
Club meeting. Tom didn’t hesitate one bit. He
accepted my wager on the spot.

I went home that day feeling nervous. I sat down
at my computer and thought:

“What did I just do? If I don’t get 100 sales
in a day, I’m going to have to pay this jerk
$1,000.”

I decided I’d better get to work. I looked for some
traffic loopholes. Luckily I found a big traffic
loophole that almost nobody else knows about.
(More about the traffic loophole below).

I started getting tons of traffic to the Green Dot
offer. Sales started pouring in. I was now getting
60 sales per day. It was good money, but I
wasn’t done yet. I went back to this same
loophole and worked it some more.

Then, something exciting happened. Sales EXPLODED!
I finally did it – I got 100 sales in a single
24 hour period! In fact, on Thursday I hit 105
sales. The next day I hit 117 sales. Yesterday I
hit 121 sales!

The first thing I did was send Tom an email with
the screen shot of my sales and commissions.

The next thing I did was grab my calculator and
figure out how much money this will bring in
each month.

I figured out that this one Affiliate offer is on
pace to bring in an extra $49,000 per month.

All I am using is a simple one page website,
a good affiliate offer, and a traffic loophole.

(I am now grateful to Tom for calling me out and
challenging me.)

There are two big lessons from this story:

Big Lesson One: The secret to success is Focus:
The reason I am now getting 100 sales per day is
because I focused on my goal. I had tunnel vision
and did whatever it took to reach that goal.

Lack of focus is the enemy of an aspiring entrepreneur.
There are a ton of shiny objects you can chase.

My business partner, Dave Clabeaux, and I are guilty of occasionally losing focus
and have to periodically refocus ourselves.

If you are currently juggling too many business
ideas, consider this your wake up call.

In other words, if you are simultaneously working on
a multi-level marketing project, while flipping
houses, while building websites, while selling vitamins
door-to-door, while delivering newspapers, while
starting a pizza shop, then I would bet that none
of those things will work out.

You’ll be working on each thing “half-assed”.

There is nothing wrong with having multiple
streams of income. In fact, the wealthiest people
in the World have dozens, if not hundreds, of
income streams from very different projects.

However, if you asked them how they did it, they
will tell you that they focused on one thing at a
time.

For example, Felix Dennis is the owner of Maxim
Magazine and has a net worth of 900 million. In
his book he says that he gets “tunnel vision”
with his projects. He focuses on one thing and one
thing only until it is successful. Even if this
means he must temporarily ignore other projects.

This is what I did. That credit card offer is now
generating $49,000 in extra monthly income without
too much babysitting.

In other words, I did all the heavy lifting up front
and the campaign – now a $49,000 per month income -
is now running pretty much on auto pilot.

2. The Second lesson is that there is a huge
untapped supply of cheap traffic available to you.

The supply is a direct result of the recent merger
between Yahoo and Microsoft search.

I just got 10,000+ hits in a day for 4 – 6 cents each.
Dave and I are purchasing blocks of 1 Million impressions at a
time for next to nothing.

Most of your competition is totally missing out on
this traffic source. They are still chasing Google
traffic and swimming upstream. The NEW way for
Affiliates to get massive traffic on demand is to
take advantage of the Yahoo/MSN traffic merger.

If this is confusing to you, just think about the
way that the stock market operates. When two
companies merge, the value of the stock goes way
up.

I am not sure how long this traffic supply will
last, but we are definitely going to milk it for
at least a few hundred thousand dollars.

Before I go, I want to remind you that the LAST
